Courtyard by Marriott Hotel To Open In El Paso, Texas

Innovative design and flexible space tailors to the needs of today’s travelers

EL PASO, Texas – August 1, 2018 – Courtyard by Marriott El Paso Downtown/Convention Center is set to open its doors in El Paso, Texas this Friday, August 3, 2018. Featuring an innovative lobby space as well as Courtyard’s latest contemporary room design, the new hotel provides flexibility and choices that allow guests to optimize and elevate their travel experience.

Located at 610 North Santa Fe Street, the 151-room hotel will operate as a Marriott franchise, managed by Marcus® Hotels & Resorts. Whether traveling for business or pleasure, the Courtyard El Paso Downtown/Convention Center offers guests convenient access to the El Paso Zoo, El Paso University, The Outlet Shoppes at El Paso, Plaza Theatre and numerous museums.

Courtyard constantly researches trends and evolves to meet the changing needs of its guests. The latest room design offers hybrid zones for working, sleeping, relaxing and getting ready. Indirect lighting and a neutral, tone-on-tone color palette make for a soothing and calm environment.

The new room design is intuitive and thoughtful, offering flexible yet comfortable spaces that enable technology. Upon arrival, guests can store bags on the “Luggage Drop” and plug personal devices into the “Tech Drop” ledge for seamless technology integration.

Signature furniture and architectural elements replace traditional art in the new guestroom. The “LoungeAround” sofa offers a pop of color and a comfortable area for relaxing or for working. The new design also features a light desk on wheels, allowing guests to work from anywhere in the room.

An upgraded, more spacious layout creates an enhanced bathroom experience. A “Shower Nook” housing shampoos and towels makes amenities accessible without having to leave the shower.

The Courtyard El Paso Downtown/Convention Center features the brand’s latest lobby design, where guests can enjoy an open and modern environment outside of their rooms. The newly designed Bistro is the epicenter of the lobby, which fosters social connections and collaboration with more flexible and informal seating options. The Bistro offers guests a wide variety of “made to order” breakfast and dinner items, “grab and go” options, and also features an array of cocktails, beer and wine for guests to unwind at the end of the day.

Throughout the hotel, guests can connect with ample electrical outlets. The business library features several computer terminals, along with a printer and separate computer stations dedicated solely to printing airline boarding passes and checking flight status.

Green has been Courtyard’s signature color since Marriott launched the brand 30 years ago. Now Courtyard is even greener with the introduction of a guest recycling program for the environment. Receptacles for paper, glass, plastic and metal are conveniently located by side exits.

The nine-story hotel features an outdoor terrace-top pool, fitness center and guest laundry, and offers 869 square feet of meeting space to accommodate functions of up to 20 people.

Nationally Recognized Firms Selected to Design Milwaukee’s First Arts-Focused Hotel

New York City-based Stonehill Taylor and Chicago-based One Design Company will create a bold vision for Marcus® Hotels & Resorts’ first-of-its-kind hotel project

MILWAUKEE, May 15, 2018. . . . . Excitement is building for Milwaukee’s newest downtown hotel focused on celebrating the arts. It was announced today that architecture and interior design firm Stonehill Taylor, based in New York City, and branding agency One Design Company, based in Chicago, will be tasked with reinventing the 221-room InterContinental Milwaukee, owned and managed by Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, into an immersive arts-focused hotel.

Showcasing world-class artists from around the region and the world, the hotel will celebrate art in its many forms, including visual arts, music, theater, dance and literature. Working with Marcus Hotels & Resorts, the design teams will collaborate to blend Milwaukee’s renowned arts scene and cultural heritage into a creatively bold arts hotel that is unlike anything the market has seen before.

One Design Company will oversee the development of the hotel’s brand concept, including name, logo, identity systems and more, while Stonehill Taylor will spearhead the interior design for the reimagined hotel. Currently immersed in the initial research phase, both teams are collaborating with Marcus Hotels & Resorts to explore Milwaukee’s creative scene and institutions by taking in exhibits, meeting with artists and viewing performances, while also talking with visitors and residents alike about what stirs their imagination.

Terry was one of nine recipients to receive the prestigious IFMA Silver Plate Award, which is bestowed upon those who show outstanding and innovative talents in foodservice operations.

With over 25 years in the food and beverage industry, Terry oversees Marcus Hotels & Resorts’ food and beverage operations, including catering, banquets and more than 40 signature restaurants, bars and lounges across the company’s 20 properties. She is also responsible for strategic planning, financial performance, operations, talent development and restaurant design. During her tenure, Terry has enhanced Marcus Hotels & Resorts’ food and beverage offerings across the country by incorporating sustainable practices, showcasing local flavors and emphasizing healthy options to ensure every guest has an exceptional culinary experience.

She then became executive chef of the Park Hyatt Century City, and then the executive chef of the Grand Hyatt Washington. In 2006, Terry was promoted to corporate director of culinary operations with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts and only after two years, was promoted to vice president of culinary and food and beverage operations.

Since 1954, the annual IFMA Silver Plate Awards honor the nation’s top foodservice operator talent. The winners are nominated by IFMA members and industry leaders, and then selected by a distinguished jury, which includes national trade press, foodservice experts and past Silver Plate Award winners. The company has also been selected to manage the newly constructed Courtyard by Marriott El Paso Downtown/Convention Center, opening June 2018. A seasoned hospitality veteran, Dees joins Marcus Hotels & Resorts from Crescent Hotels & Resorts, where he most recently served as vice president of operations for the third-party hotel management company. His tenure with Crescent Hotels & Resorts began in 2006 after he joined the company as general manager of the Livonia Marriott in Livonia, Mich. He then moved on to become general manager of The Georgian Terrace Hotel in Atlanta, Ga. and was promoted to regional director of operations in 2011. His 35-year hospitality career also includes positions with HEI Hotels & Resorts, Interstate Hotels & Resorts and Richfield Hospitality.

Four properties receive the distinguished AAA Four Diamond Rating in 2018

Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, a nationally recognized hotel management company and division of The Marcus Corporation (NYSE: MCS), today announced that four of its owned and managed properties have again received the esteemed AAA Four Diamond Award® in 2018. These awards follow a year of numerous accolades for Marcus Hotels & Resorts’ properties across the nation.

The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee remains one of only 12 hotels in North America that have maintained AAA Four Diamond status since the Diamond Ratings were first introduced in 1976.
