HILTON MILWAUKEE CITY CENTER AND NEWAUKEE PARTNER TO HOST KENTUCKY DERBY PARTY

Hilton Milwaukee City Center, which is owned and operated by Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, is partnering with NEWaukee to host a Kentucky Derby Party at the Monarch Lounge inside Hilton Milwaukee on Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m.

The public is invited to put on their best derby hats and join the party, which will feature two 12-foot projections for screening the race. Guests can grab a table or stand in “The Pit,” which will replicate the high-energy infield of Churchill Downs. Live bluegrass music from Thistledown Thunders, Beef Tea, and DJ Romke will set the stage for an authentic celebration.

“The excitement is already building—Monarch Lounge is going to be the place to watch the derby this weekend,” said Steve Magnuson, Hilton Milwaukee’s vice president and general manager.

In addition to the big race and live music, partygoers will enjoy a derby-themed photo booth, 50/50 raffle, and a hat competition for a free night’s stay at Hilton Milwaukee. The cash bar will serve up traditional Mint Juleps and the hotel will offer complimentary light snacks.

“After a two-year hiatus, we’re excited to bring the derby party back to the public,” said NEWaukee Chief Idea Officer Jeremy Fojut. “This year’s event is going to be bigger and better—we’re even working on getting a live horse there for photo opportunities.”

The Kentucky Derby Party is free and open to the public. For more information on the event and to register, visit newaukee.com/event/newaukees-kentucky-derby-party. Monarch Lounge is located inside Hilton Milwaukee at 509 W. Wisconsin Ave. in downtown Milwaukee.
