David Hallenbeck Recognized as Outstanding Community Member Following 20 Years of Service

LAKE GENEVA, Wis. (August 2014) — The AAA Four-Diamond Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, owned and managed by Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, is proud to announce David Hallenbeck, the resort’s director of golf, has received Variety – The Children’s Charity of Wisconsin’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his involvement and dedication to the program. This accolade recognizes David Hallenbeck’s 20 years of service to this charitable organization.

“I was humbled and honored to receive such a commendable award, ” says David Hallenbeck. “I’m inspired to help others, especially children who have had a bad break in life, and strive to make their lives just a little bit better each and every day.”

Hallenbeck has been a member of the Executive Board for eight years holding both the Treasurer and Secretary positions, and has sat on the Board of Directors for the past 20 years. Hallenbeck also holds the title of tournament director for the Ben Marcus Memorial Variety Golf Classic. Hosted on property at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa for the past 20 years, the event has raised more than $1.7 million over 36 years.

One of Hallenbeck’s many remarkable achievements includes his efforts to help acquire the first EOS full body scanner in North America at a Children’s Hospital. The machine was primarily funded by Variety – The Children’s Charity of Wisconsin, and has successfully diagnosed thousands of children over the years, providing them with not only better treatments, but a brighter future.

“We are incredibly proud to have individuals such as Dave representing Grand Geneva Resort & Spa,” says General Manager Tom Mason. “It’s people like him that inspire us as a company to give back and strengthen our community ties. We commend him for his dedication to the organization.”

Variety – The Children’s Charity of Wisconsin was formed in 1935 as a chapter of the worldwide organization that is active in over 14 countries. Its mission is to provide life-enriching assistance to Wisconsin children challenged by physical disabilities and help them gain freedom, independence and the chance to join in with other kids in the community.
