Drill Divas Ice Fishing Package is an Adventurous Girlfriend Getaway Experience at Heidel House Resort & Spa

Women are invited to learn to ice fish, guided by area expert Mike Norton, and then enjoy a warm and relaxing experience at Evensong Spa.

GREEN LAKE, Wis. – Jan. 15, 2015 – January is the perfect time to plan a “Girlfriends Getaway” weekend after a busy holiday season comes to an end.  Women looking to be adventurous and learn a new winter recreation activity will be excited for Heidel House Resort & Spa’s first ever Drill Divas Ice Fishing Package. You don’t have to be an expert ice angler to enjoy ice fishing – the Drill Divas Ice Fishing Package provides the equipment and the knowledge for a fun ice fishing experience followed by relaxation in the resort’s award-winning Evensong Spa.  Drill Divas is perfect for beginners who have never experienced ice fishing or for those looking for a fun adventure to try with girlfriends this winter.

“We wanted to create a unique winter experience for women combining adventure and relaxation.  Our ice fishing package offers a way to enjoy the outdoors, catch up with friends and unwind. We encourage women looking for an out-of-the-ordinary getaway to grab their girlfriends and experience ice fishing at its best on Big Green Lake this winter,” said Scott Krause, Heidel House general manager.

Ice Fishing

Adventurous girlfriends can enjoy a day on Big Green Lake.

To ensure a comfortable experience, participants will be prepped on proper ice fishing attire and will be taken to a heated ice fishing shanty.  The adventure will begin with a hot, hearty breakfast in the resort’s Sunroom restaurant. They will then be shuttled to a top fishing location on Big Green Lake, Wisconsin’s deepest inland lake, met by the area’s most popular fishing-guide service – Mike Norton’s Fishing and Hunting.

Norton’s will provide all the fishing equipment the ladies need for a successful day on the ice. This includes a heated fishing shanty, tackle and bait. Each Drill Diva will also receive two water bottles, a thermos of Apple Spiced Bourbon toddies or mulled wine, hand warmers and a freshly-prepared box lunch.  At the end of the fishing trip, Mike Norton’s Fishing and Hunting team will clean and package the fresh catch to take home.

Mike Norton advocates ice fishing as a bonding experience; “Many enjoy the intimacy that ice fishing offers. It’s as much about the social interaction as the actual fishing.  Friends enjoy sitting in a warm shack while having a few drinks and taking in the calm, tranquil snowy lake.  You don’t need to know how to fish to enjoy ice fishing – it’s about the adventure and enjoying the company you are with.”

Mike Norton’s experts are there every step of the ice fishing journey.

After returning from the lake, the group will make their way to Evensong Spa, where they will shed snowsuits and slip into luxurious robes. Guests can choose to enjoy the spa’s waterfall whirlpool, eucalyptus steam room and fireplace-warmed relaxation room, and then be treated to a 50-minute Labyrinth Heated Stone Massage.  During this massage, smooth heated stones are combined with soothing massage techniques to promote grounding, balancing and a deep sense of relaxation. The heat from the stones relaxes muscles and increases blood flow to target zones and enhance the healing process.

Heidel House Resort will send everyone home with their clean and packaged catch, as well as a commemorative photo of the group’s day on the ice.

Drill Divas Package Details

The Drill Divas package includes overnight accommodations at Heidel House Resort. Drill Divas Ice Fishing Package rates start at $260 per person.

The package provides a local ice fishing expert, all fishing equipment, a warm shanty, cocktails, hand warmers and a prepared box lunch.  Also included is breakfast in the Sunroom, a 50-minute Labryinth Heated Stone Massage and access to Evensong Spa’s waterfall whirlpool, eucalyptus steam room and relaxation room.

Drill Divas Ice Fishing Package availability is dependent on ice conditions.  The package can be booked for stays from mid-January through mid-March.

This package does not include purchase of a fishing license. Guests are encouraged to purchase fishing licenses online prior to arrival or at North Bay Sport & Liquor in downtown Green Lake. Proof of legal drinking age will be required for cocktails.  Heidel House Resort encourages women to make reservations for this package well in advance to ensure availability.

We have been committed to the area for many years and welcome this opportunity to bring our tradition of hospitality excellence and high-quality service and amenities to this distinctive property,” said Thomas F. Kissinger, interim president, Marcus Hotels & Resorts and senior executive vice president, The Marcus Corporation.

“We are pleased to work with Marcus Hotels & Resorts in managing this full-service resort,” said Dave Kruger, president of the Fiore Companies. “Marcus Hotels & Resorts’ strong Wisconsin roots make the company an ideal partner in maintaining the position of Heidel House as a leading Midwestern year-round destination.”

The Heidel House, on the shores of Green Lake, is approximately a 75 minute drive from Madison and 90 minute drive from Milwaukee, and is located just a few miles west of Lake Winnebago. In addition to its restaurants, meeting space and spa, other features include two lounges, a stand-alone ice cream parlor, the elegant Dartford ballroom accommodating up to 380 guests, a Carriage Tent event space for outdoor weddings and social events, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness center, tranquil beach and lakefront, and nearby golf courses. The resort also has a 60-foot yacht, available for daily excursions on the lake, cocktail cruises, private dinners and receptions.

Known as a year-round destination, Heidel House Resort offers a boat rental and water sports area, hiking and biking trails and a variety of seasonal waterfront activities in summer. Winter activities include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and ice skating.

In 2013, the resort was voted Best Wisconsin Lakeshore Resort by meeting planners in the Best of Wisconsin Meetings awards.

Marcus® Hotels & Resorts Celebrates Award-Winning Properties

Four properties receive the distinguished AAA Four Diamond Rating in 2018

Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, a nationally recognized hotel management company and division of The Marcus Corporation (NYSE: MCS), today announced that four of its owned and managed properties have again received the esteemed AAA Four Diamond Award® in 2018. These awards follow a year of numerous accolades for Marcus Hotels & Resorts’ properties across the nation.

The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee remains one of only 12 hotels in North America that have maintained AAA Four Diamond status since the Diamond Ratings were first introduced in 1976. Other Marcus Hotels & Resorts properties that have received the AAA Four Diamond Award in 2018 include the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, recognized for the 20th consecutive year; the historic Skirvin Hilton in Oklahoma City, recognized for the 11th consecutive year; and the Hilton Milwaukee City Center, the major convention hotel in Milwaukee, recognized for the seventh consecutive year.

“The AAA Four Diamond Awards are a prestigious recognition that clearly demonstrate the decades of excellence at Marcus Hotels & Resorts,” said Greg Marcus, president and chief executive officer of The Marcus Corporation. “This is a result of the hard work and passion our associates put into ensuring an exceptional experience for each guest at a Marcus Hotels & Resorts property. Congratulations yet again to our AAA Four Diamond properties on this fantastic accomplishment, and congratulations on an excellent year of service to all of our properties, which were well recognized in 2017.”
The Pfister Hotel, Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, Skirvin Hilton and Hilton Milwaukee City Center are part of an exclusive group of hotels within North America. Currently, six percent of the nearly 27,000 hotels approved by AAA make the Four Diamond list. Hotels at this level are committed to providing upscale physical attributes, extensive amenities and a high degree of hospitality, exceptional service and attention to detail.

In addition, five Marcus Hotels & Resorts properties also received high rankings in U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 Best Hotels list. The Pfister Hotel, Hilton Milwaukee City Center and InterContinental Milwaukee all ranked in the top four of downtown Milwaukee hotels, with The Pfister Hotel ranked as number one. The Pfister Hotel and Grand Geneva Resort & Spa were also listed in the top five best Wisconsin hotels, and the Skirvin Hilton was ranked number one in best downtown Oklahoma City hotels. The rankings evaluate more than 3,000 luxury hotels across the United States, the Caribbean, Canada and Mexico and are calculated based on the opinion of travel experts, guest reviews and hotel class ratings.

Along with the early recognitions in 2018, Marcus Hotels & Resorts also ended 2017 on a strong note with the company receiving the 2017 Service Excellence Award by Governor Scott Walker at the Wisconsin Governor’s Conference on Tourism, as well as Smart Meetings magazine’s 2017 Platinum Choice Award.
